Here’s your chance to work on your business in 2014…
Please join The Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center for two days of business capacity building! At this conference you will gain information and actionable ideas to execute in your business immediately. Day 1 focuses on building a good business foundation, relationships, and finding opportunities. On day 2, financial institutions and technical assistance providers will be available from 8:30-1pm to discuss your personal financial needs and business challenges, while financial professionals conduct panel discussions on the trends, challenges, and opportunities for accessing capital.
Registration to this event includes breakfast, lunch, and access to all workshops and panels. However, we realize it is difficult to pull away from your businesses for two days. If you cannot attend all sessions, review the workshop descriptions and choose those which best meet your interests and stage of business. Full workshop descriptions can be found below. FEASIBILITY & BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT
For a business to be successful, the importance of planning should never be overlooked. This workshop will introduce participants to the feasibility and business plan writing process. A feasibility or business plan will help gain insight into your business and serve as an operating tool to help develop and manage your business to achieve greater success. The business plan is often a required communication tool for financing proposals.
PUBLIC RELATIONS VS. MARKETING: UNDERSTANDING THE VALUE OF EACH
Often the two are confused, but there are significant differences between PR and marketing. PR is a much more cost-effective way of reaching your prospects and customers, but you cannot control the outcome. Marketing is critical to a growing business using systematic planning to bring company and customer together, but navigating the many options can be tough. In this workshop, learn how to use both to drive business results.
WOMEN IN BUSINESS
This panel discussion is primarily geared toward female entrepreneurs and will explore networking for business, certification for your enterprise, and a Cincinnati based women’s entrepreneurial program.

Learn which types of professionals all business owners should engage for advice to ensure sound business decisions are made. Core Business Startup concepts and what you need to know in operating a business profitably will be discussed by a panel of seasoned professionals.
UNDERSTANDING THE OHIO MBE/EDGE CERTIFICATIONS
Minority and Women owned businesses seeking to secure government contracts will walk through the application process to obtain the state Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE) certifications.
AND NOW A MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNMENT
Representatives of key State of Ohio offices will provide an overview of what services are available to small business.

REGIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
If you are seeking opportunities regionally or on the locally, the information provided in this session will give you the resources needed to certify with government agencies and teach you how to use those certifications to secure procurement opportunities.
