SBA Small Business Development Series Announcement

FREE Resource Training – Starting Right and Beyond – Dayton

The U.S. Small Business Administration and its partners are hosting a series of free small business seminars designed for minority and women business owners. This initiative is a broad effort to strengthen and expand business ownership among these two groups. The Small Business Development Series will help small and minority businesses to access resources that can help them grow and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

The next seminar is entitled "Starting Right and Beyond". You will hear from business professional about the following topics: Legal, Accounting and Insurance needs for your small business. Additional topics related to your small business will be covered at these workshops, please follow the links below for more information and registration. This seminar is free of charge, but registration is required. All workshops are from 9 to noon at the Entrepreneurs Center on the dates below. Guests and speakers to be announced closer to the events.

Tuesday, May 20 9a-12noon Starting Out Right and Beyond Register

Register to join us as we explore the legal issues you need to know to start your business out right! We’ll cover how to set up your business, the legal and accounting topics that are crucial to all small business owners as well as what type of insurance is right for your business. Human Resources topics include Workers Compensation, payroll taxes, and the difference between an employee and a contractor.

Tuesday, June 17 9a-12noon Building Banking Relationships Register

This third Session in our series deals with the all important question of How do I fund my business? Topics and speakers will explain Bootstrapping and other non-credit forms of funding; what banks need from business borrowers; how the SBA works with banks and community development organizations; community loan programs; micro-lending and microenterprise financing plus much more.

Come join us for the fourth Session in our series to build wealth management skills both personally and for your business. Topics and speakers will explain how to establish and maintain good credit; the connection between personal and business money management; what banks expect from business borrowers and more.

Tuesday, August 19 9-12noon Small Business Marketing Register

In our fifth session of the Series we’ll discuss marketing for the small business including crafting your message, bringing the message to life, social media and your online presence.

Tuesday, September16 9a-12noon Small Business Procurement Register

This last session of our six part series will describe the US SBA and procurement opportunities for small businesses; using the certification matrix and improving your chances at winning the private/public procurement game.

About Greater Dayton MBAC

The City of Dayton Human Relations Council is host to the Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). A component of the State of Ohio Development Services Agency, MBAC provides management and technical assistance, procurement information, bonding assistance, cost estimating services and organizational assessments. For businesses engaged in the construction sector, the Center also provides Construction & Plan Room assistance. MBAC offers free assistance to minority, woman and small businesses in Montgomery, Green, Clark, Dark, Preble, and Miami counties of Ohio.
