Accepting Applications! The Ohio Development Services Agency and the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University are accepting applications for the 2015 Ohio Export Internship Program. The program will match companies with highly motivated students who have taken export-focused coursework, while providing a 50% reimbursement for the intern wages. November 5, 2014 – The Women’s Business Center of Ohio, the Small Business Administration (SBA), and Fifth Third Bank will be hosting VGATE: Veterans Growing America Through Entrepreneurship in Columbus. November 6, 2014 – The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Minority Business Partnership will be hosting Doing Business with Educational Institutions in Dayton. November 12, 2014 – The Greater Cincinnati Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Miller Canfield will be hosting Cincinnati Checklist: A Discussion on Chinese Investment in Middle America in Cincinnati. This event will feature panelists with intimate knowledge of Fuyao Auto Glass and their expected $250 million investment in Ohio and what to expect for the future of Chinese businesses in the region. November 12, 2014 – The Cleveland U.S. Commercial Service will be hosting a seminar on Mexican/Canadian Customs Update and Border Compliance in Kirtland. November 13, 2014 – The Northern Kentucky International Trade Association (NKITA) will be hosting Tax Strategies for Export in Fort Mitchell, KY. November 13, 2014 – The International Trade Association of Southwest Ohio (ITAWSO) will be hosting an Executive Luncheon in Dayton. November 18, 2014 – The European American Chamber of Commerce and Frost Brown Todd will be hosting Doing Business in the UK in Cincinnati. This workshop will provide a networking opportunity with CEOs from U.S. companies looking to do business in the UK and hear from those who have already entered the market. November 19, 2014 – The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) will be hosting Small Contract Rotation Process in Cincinnati. This workshop will teach how this procurement process works and help attendees understand the opportunities available to them. December 2, 2014 – The U.S. EPA will be hosting the EPA Technology Innovation Showcase in Cincinnati. This event will educate attendees on how the EPA can work with them to design, develop, and demonstrate their innovative solutions, as well as tour the EPA’s technology research and testing facilities. Attendees will also learn how Confluence, a regional Water Technology Innovation Cluster, can support regional companies in establishing their business network. December 4, 2014 – The ITAC at Columbus State will host the Council of Great Lakes Governor’s Trade Mission to Mexico Seminar in Columbus. This seminar will cover the business market in Mexico, as well as introduce the trade mission details. Registration information will be forthcoming.

Save the Date! March 5, 2015 – The International Trade Assistance Center at Columbus State Community College and the U.S. Small Business Administration will host the 2015 Export Matchmaker in Columbus. This event will feature one-on-one meetings, breakout session on various international topics, and a trade show. Additional details will be forthcoming.

Exporting News!! Ohio and Kentucky both received a State Trade Export Promotion (STEP) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. This grant provides assistance to small businesses with export related activities. More information and details about the Ohio grant will be released in the coming weeks. For more information and an application for the Kentucky grant, please visit www.kyexports.com.

About Greater Dayton MBAC

The City of Dayton Human Relations Council is host to the Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). A component of the State of Ohio Development Services Agency, MBAC provides management and technical assistance, procurement information, bonding assistance, cost estimating services and organizational assessments. For businesses engaged in the construction sector, the Center also provides Construction & Plan Room assistance. MBAC offers free assistance to minority, woman and small businesses in Montgomery, Green, Clark, Dark, Preble, and Miami counties of Ohio.
