International Market Access Grant for Exporters (IMAGE)

The IMAGE program, funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Ohio Office of Export Assistance, offers financial assistance for small businesses to promote their products and services in international markets. The grant will provide a 50% reimbursement up to $10,000 per fiscal year for qualifying activities. Funding is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the deadline to complete proposed activities is September 29, 2016.

October 2, 2015 – The U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Commercial Service, the Southern Ohio District Export Council (SODEC), and the U.S. EPA will be hosting the ASEAN Water Technology Conference in Cincinnati. This event will cover international opportunities in the ASEAN countries with an emphasis on water technologies that can address environmental challenges in these nations. October 7, 2015 – The Warren County Small Business Alliance will be hosting Is Franchise Business Ownership For You? in Lebanon. October 8, 2015 – Columbus 2020 and the Trans-Atlantic Business Council will be hosting How the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Will Help the Columbus Region in Columbus. October 10, 2015 – The Patent and Trademark Resource Center at Wright State will be hosting Trademark Basics in Dayton. October 12, 2015 – The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA will be hosting the 2015 Dinner Gala in Cincinnati. InnovateHER 2016

The SBDC at Wright State will be a host site for the InnovateHER 2016 – Innovating for Women Business Challenge sponsored by the SBA and Microsoft. This competition requires contestants to develop a product or service that meets the following three Challenge Criteria:

· Has a measurable impact on the lives of women and families

· Has the potential for commercialization

· Fills a need in the marketplace

Advanced Smart Owners Series

Cincinnati SCORE, SBDC Kentucky, and Rekindle will be hosting a five-part series on How to better manage your business for Increased Profitability in Florence, KY. The sessions for this series are:

1. October 12, 2015 – Understanding the financial data needed to secure a business loan

2. October 28, 2015 – The Myriad of tax options on how to best structure your business

3. November 4, 2015 – How to use metrics to manage and grow your business

4. November 10, 2015 – Managing finance and accounting for the small business owner

Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program

The Ohio Development Services Agency will reimburse employers for up to 50 percent of the eligible training costs, up to $4,000 per employee, after 1) the employer pays the full cost of the training, and 2) the employee successfully completes the training. The maximum amount an employer may qualify for in a fiscal year is $100,000. The company must be in operation for at least 12 months in Ohio to participate. Businesses can begin the online process on September 28, 2015 and will have more than two weeks to gather the necessary information to complete their application. The online applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and can be submitted beginning at 10:00 a.m. on October 14, 2015. USDA Rural Development Business & Cooperative Programs

As the economy continues to improve and drive capital investment by companies, the USDA Rural Development Business & Industry (B&I) Loan Guarantee should be considered as an option when looking to assist rural businesses with their long term business investments. The B&I loan guarantee program can offer attractive long term financing options for real estate purchases and improvements, machinery & equipment purchases, term working capital and debt refinancing. Loan guarantee funding is currently available for these projects. The Ohio Rural Development Business Program staff can help you walk through the benefits and the requirements for this loan guarantee program should you have questions.

About Greater Dayton MBAC

The City of Dayton Human Relations Council is host to the Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). A component of the State of Ohio Development Services Agency, MBAC provides management and technical assistance, procurement information, bonding assistance, cost estimating services and organizational assessments. For businesses engaged in the construction sector, the Center also provides Construction & Plan Room assistance. MBAC offers free assistance to minority, woman and small businesses in Montgomery, Green, Clark, Dark, Preble, and Miami counties of Ohio.
