Seeking Emerging Leaders!
Registration is now open for the 2016 Emerging Leaders executive level training program in Columbus, Ohio. This is the 2nd consecutive year in Columbus. The goal of this program is to attract owners of established urban small businesses with high growth potential, and provide them with the knowledge and resources to build a sustainable business of size and scale. Seeking 15 applicants for this year’s Emerging Leaders program.
Criteria needed includes: At least three years in business, have at least one employee besides the owner, and have gross annual sales of at least $350,000. Participant must be an owner or key decision maker within the company. The course begins in the spring in Columbus and runs thru October. This seven-month long intensive course, which is free for participants, requires a commitment of 100 hours, including 40 hours of in class training, seven CEO mentoring group meetings, and course work assignments, as well as networking and mentoring opportunities.

International Market Access Grant for Exporters (IMAGE)

The IMAGE program, funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Ohio Office of Export Assistance, offers financial assistance for small businesses to promote their products and services in international markets. The grant will provide a 50% reimbursement up to $10,000 per fiscal year for qualifying activities. Funding is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the deadline to complete proposed activities is September 29, 2016.

USDA Rural Development Business & Cooperative Programs

As the economy continues to improve and drive capital investment by companies, the USDA Rural Development Business & Industry (B&I) Loan Guarantee should be considered as an option when looking to assist rural businesses with their long term business investments. The B&I loan guarantee program can offer attractive long term financing options for real estate purchases and improvements, machinery & equipment purchases, term working capital and debt refinancing. Loan guarantee funding is currently available for these projects. The Ohio Rural Development Business Program staff can help you walk through the benefits and the requirements for this loan guarantee program should you have questions.

About Greater Dayton MBAC

The City of Dayton Human Relations Council is host to the Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). A component of the State of Ohio Development Services Agency, MBAC provides management and technical assistance, procurement information, bonding assistance, cost estimating services and organizational assessments. For businesses engaged in the construction sector, the Center also provides Construction & Plan Room assistance. MBAC offers free assistance to minority, woman and small businesses in Montgomery, Green, Clark, Dark, Preble, and Miami counties of Ohio.
